Tampa foodie review for Caffeine Roaster
Call me a coffee snob, call me a java nut, call me a caffeine highbrow, but call me for coffee!
I admit it. I've become a bit of a coffee snob. Convenience store java used to be part of my routine but as I have experienced the nuance of better coffee processes and roasts my appreciation (and snobbishness) have increased. Along with great food I now find myself seeking refined, albeit more expensive, cups of tasty joe.
Caffeine Roasters has arisen from the old Drama Burgers on Kennedy Boulevard. It's a nice remodel. Inside features raw wood and abundant comfortable seating along with a background of an R&B and jazzy upbeat music mix. It's designed for the coffee purist. While they offer some typical drip coffee the main draw are the 4 alternative brewing methods- Aeropress ($3). V60 & Kalita ($4.50), and Chemex ($5.70).

Many of their food menu items here are straight out of Trendy Digest. (Not that there's anything wrong with that). For breakfast they offer three types of avocado toast, eight versions of egg sandwiches (on a variety of biscuits, croissants, and toast, and wraps), and a mix of yogurts and cereals. There is also a case with quiche and an offering of different pastries including croissants.

Caffeine Roasters cheese and spinach quiche is warmed in an oven to render the crust nice and crispy
I try the cheese and spinach quiche. I am a little frustrated that it takes 15 minutes to deliver the dish while my Chemex coffee gets cold. Then I find that they actually heat it in an oven versus slapping it in a microwave like other restaurants do. It is a long wait but worth it. The crust was flaky and the filling just the right combination of egg, cheese, and spinach, all served on a bed of fresh greens

Caffeine Roasters- Avocado, egg, salmon toast
On my second visit I had an Avocado, egg, salmon, and spinach toast. What a great combo with the creamy egg mixing with the salty salmon all capped by the texture and slight bitterness of the spinach. I'll have another!

The interior offers sofas, smaller tables and some community seating
When I first heard Caffeine Roasters was opening I wondered why there was a need for yet another coffee roaster and shop. But now I get it. Their coffee is artisanal and good, and their food edgy and prepped with care. I will definitely go back and try more. Friendly fast service, and along with coffee and food items, they also sell raw coffee and alternative preparation kits for those of us snooty enough to pour-over our own.
