This new store is a bright place taking a large parcel in a new strip center in South Tampa. It has a lot of room for larger groups and widescreen TVs from all angles. The decor easily inundates you with BWW branding everywhere. I was quickly seated on the non-crowded patio outside. The manager was trepidatious about my picture taking but let it go after several agitated questions. I'm not sure if that is inexperience or company policy. I chose the "Pick 2" lunch special- 10 small traditional wings with choice of sauce (16 to choose from) and I selected the Honey BBQ and Caribbean Jerk- $9.99 with Beer Battered Onion rings $1.95 up charge, and Iced Tea $2.99. With tip my lunch was $19.00... more than I would typically pay for lunch.
The small to medium sized wings are crispy on the outside but not so overcooked as to be dry on the inside. The Caribbean Jerk wings have the right amount of heat and sweetness, perfect for middle-of-the-road hot. The Honey BBQ sauce is mediocre with a nice pop of sweet but not enough of anything else (tang, tomato, or smoke) to put it over the top. Both types of wings have plenty of sauce, enough to make for at least a 2 napkin meal. Yes! The Beer Battered Onion Rings are slightly soggy, doughy and sweet. They need some attention. The accompanying Southwest Ranch dressing gives them a better dimension, but I wouldn't order them again. Overall, for a national chain that is newly opened, it's pretty good. Service was quick and attentive, manager was a little anxious for my taste, and the dinner prices are slightly above average for a wing house/sports bar.
